Headmaster’s Update 3 Jan 2019

DATE:    03 JANUARY 2019

This memo serves to inform all parents that the Board of Governors met on the 28th of December, 2018, to deliberate on the outcome of the meeting, the S.D.C extraordinary meeting held on the 15th of December 2018.

The board as the responsible authority and the owners of the school nullified the meeting because

  1. There were aspiring parents of form 1 pupils who were not supposed to be allowed to vote in the meeting.
  2. There were parents of the outgoing form 4 and 6 who are currently not eligible to vote.
  • The meeting was attended by couples who voted twice as they were representing only one pupil.

The Board has issued a directive that it will stick to the fees increase agreed upon by the S.D.C executive and Board of Governors of $1800 but meanwhile forms 2, 3, 4 and 6 parents will pay last year’s fees, until the final determination.

Please note that BMC is a trust school which pays its own teachers and is different from other schools whose teachers are paid by the government.

Fees for form 1 is different from the rest and therefore are treated as such.   This will be explained to parents when they come with their children on Sunday, 06 January 2019.  Please note that full school fees including arrears will be required to be paid on the first day of the school term.  There will be no payment plan.  Parents who want to pay more money in anticipation of increase in fees are welcome as this in inevitable.

The pupils who have fees arrears from last year are deemed to have transferred and have not been offered places.

Those who wish to be admitted into lower six should apply, for entry into lower six is not automatic and is based upon criteria which includes behaviour of the child, capability to pay and the role the parent played in the development of the school.  If the parents of BMC have queries please note that we have a functional administration which is headed by the Headmaster, those are the only people who can give you a correct version of the operations of the school, so feel free to approach them.
